External Harddisk problem

    Hi,

    i have a 500 gb maxtor basic desktop external hdd.i was transferring some files when there was a power cut.The next time i connected it, the hard disk is showing but i cant access the data..the disk is shown in my computer.But when i open it, ir just goes on reading..without it being opened.

    please help me, i have some very important data there

    chances are 50% ...
    if your external drive is F:
    command prompt (win + R type CMD)
    .....> CHKDSK F: /R /F

    Try running a recovery softwaRE such as Rstudio .

    If it can be detected by your computer and shows up as a drive letter in my computer,you can recover your files off the drive with data recovery software.For Windows,I used this one before: Tenorshare Data Recovery. For Mac,I found this one for you: Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery.
