    hi,

At first, I was seeing my external HDD on my laptop without issues but now I am not. I then tried it on my desktop and couldn't see it on there either. I then tried it on my test desktop and it saw it on there but I had to format it on there. After doing that, I placed it on my desktop and it saw it but i had to format it on there as well. When I tried it on my laptop, it still doesnt show up. I checked it on computer management and it doesnt appear there either.

Is there away to fix this so I can use the external HDD on my laptop again? If yes, what do I need to do to fix this plz?

    TIA

He probably wants to get a picture of your face, because if the HDD is not visible on the computer, you can't get any other image or put it anywhere.
There is probably a problem with your computer settings or HDD connections, but the strange thing is that this is the case on multiple computers.
It would be advisable to use/try different USB sockets and also check the connection cables.

Generally encrypted external hdds create theses problems. I got some experience with it. Sometimes the circuit board on the hdd which got encryption code will go corrupt. Then it won't be recognized on pc / laptop. If it is possible, remove the external case and use it as internal hdd or get a sata to usb case and use as external hdd again.

ok, I went into computer management today and I finally saw the external HDD offline. It had an error msg of " this disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk that is offline". I just selected the down arrow next to offline and turned it online and it works fine now.

I have never seen that before. Does anyone know what that means?

    TIA

Got a great deal on a seagate 500GB external SSD for $17 so I am trying that.

Are you sure the ports on the laptop are not faulty?
