everything is about business which company will lost first the most millions intel going down now ofcorse amd can say we have too flaws already amd the first month amd get intel users in his side now he dont have anything too lose.
Intel: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...could-result-in-a-huge-performance-hit.76081/ AMD wasn't affected in the same way but now has it's own issues.
yes i know that intel processors were affected by spectre/meltdown as well but afaik there was a security patch that has been released by MS for intel CPUs and which allows to correct this flaw, i remember having received this patch through WU and installed it at the beginning of january.
Only solves the issue partially. To fully patch it still needs a BIOS micro-code update which is only available for the latest CPUs. That threat isn't mitigated at all .
According to that article, researchers gave AMD less than 24 hours to respond to the vulnerabilities. It says normal timeframe is 90 days. And then this: "Although we have a good faith belief in our analysis and believe it to be objective and unbiased," the disclaimer says, "you are advised that we may have, either directly or indirectly, an economic interest in the performance of the securities of the companies whose products are the subject of our reports." Just sounds shady.. They could've taken short positions in AMD stock or long in Intel and made a lot of money off this news. I wouldn't even be surprised if Intel paid them to find flaws in AMD chips so Intel looks better.
