How about: Is Windows 10 Build 10240 RTM?: It doesn't matter. It will be updated to GA (and beyond) through windows update.
Because then you won't be activated. You have to upgrade from a qualifying version of windows for your hardware id to be stored in the activation servers. After that you can clean install.
But i'm KMS Pico activated, so what's the point upgrading if my key will be invalid anyway? (8.1 Pro)
Just a thought but remember this thread will draw newbies so it may be worth explaining some of the terminology thus... RTM (Released To Manufacturing) GA (General Availability)
MS wants to assure the old License is consumed with the Upgrade. The average user will avoid the hassle of reinstalling the old Windows afterwards, ergo one 'old' system less.
reserved...forgot to do this. God do I hate taking responsibility to keep a thread updated, so I just do not do it.
Hehe as far as I have read it is only "consumed" in agreeing to the EULA not in actuality. I have been reading of people running both with the original key that s'posed to be consumed and permanently activated win 10. Not tested it myself.
Yeah, we both know how to trick this, but i was referring to average Joe with his anyname brand machine from next bigger Any-Mart.
I think that is beyond me, I wish there was a way other people could edit the original post too to help...as I see this might just grow into a monster for the next month or so.
hrm, wonder if there is a "co-op" type mod for the board, would be a great way to assign a few people capable of adding/editing a thread. Nice thought. I figure mods and admins can all do it, there must be a way to sign up specific individuals per thread. Might by a rather huge undertaking though. Ive never looked at this boards code all that deep
Have often thought exactly that too. Threads such as this are a monumental effort for one person to maintain. Some type of group editing facility and a an agreed group looking after the OP would be a plus. Yes - this will become a monster and as mentioned attract huge attention from newcomers.
