I don't trust in MS backups
they only know to make it pretty in words and pictures but their actual final product is total crap

look what was system restore... it was crap with WinME, XP inherited it, and by all means Vista and 7 don't have it better

not to mention how this will be another target for malware
if not even easier to exploit

Are there any plain & simple backup programs out there?

I tend to agree with you. I really want a backup program to just "copy" files to an external hard drive and not bury everything into compressed folders that I have to wonder what is in each one? And do it on a regular schedule!

I understand the reasoning of storing things in some zip folder, but I just want to be able to find various files (uncompressed) and restore them to where they were in the event I need to do so.:dunno:

I think my Samsung Recovery Solution is doing that, but some of the other backup programs, e.g. Nero and EaseUS, just confuse this newbie!!
