    Hi all,
my daughter gave me a USB drive to see if I can Recover all her pictures on the drive. The drive will not open in windows,
I started using PhotoRec to recover the pictures it is taking forever. It has been 3 days and it is only at 20%. Is there another free program that I can use to recover all of the data on the drive that doesnt take an eternity? I have used Recuva before but there is a lot on the drive and it will not let me recover everything without buying it. The free version limits the amount one can recover.

    Thanks

It is PhotoRec I am using, sorry for the mix up. Is running testdisk a better alternative? and is it possible to run at the same time. It has been 4 days with PhotoRec ad it is at 25%. I really don't want to start over.

Don't know if both can access the usb drive at same time.
If they can both operate at same time, then both PhotoRec and TestDisk will slow each other down.

I used PhotoRec and it did recover all the files I hope. It took almost 3 days for it to get to about 18%, than it completed the rest of the scan in about 8 more hours. I do not know whether there was bad sectors in the first part of the drive or that is where the files were stored and the rest didn't have anything written on it. Thanks all

Now I will try to recover the drive using TestDisk.
