    Hi Guys!

Could use a bit of help here. I am looking for the latest BIOS rom for a netbook. The brand is local (you won't even heard of) but it's basically a Chinese-assembled, Atom powered machine by a company called 'Olevia'. The netbook model is "x11a".

Just so you won't think I am lazy and just want the food served on the table - I have spend nearly an hour online looking for a clue as to where can I find an update for this BIOS. Also did went though some of the stuff in the BIOS Tools page. Only info I managed to gather so far - regarding the BIOS - it this:

    Code:
    BIOS Type: Phoenix
    BIOS Date: October 2nd 2009
    BIOS ID: NAPA0001.86C.0056.D.0910021942 -None
    BIOS OEM: NAPA0001.86C.0056.D.0910021942
    Chipset: Intel 27AC rev 3
    SuperIO: Unknown
I also tried partial name search i.e. NAPA0001.86C.0056.D.0910021942 but not even my best friend didn't help much

I tried BiosAgentPlus, RadarSync and some others - only few even managed to ID the BIOS properly and propose an update - but only after I paid for a subscription (and I am not going to...)

Is anyone here aware of any freeware tool that can do that task or even direct me somewhere that I can pick the latest BIOS from? I don't want a modded / hacked BIOS - just the latest official revision available.

    Thanks!

Somehow I knew I will be asked that :)

In my case, I would say its about system stability. Netbook isn't mine, so I can't tell how it used to 'behave' in the past, but it seems to me that frequent lockups during POST, especially whilst trying to boot from a non-sysOS device, isn't normal.

So maybe, there is something to it and I d like to rule out something that might have already been fixed in a later revision. It would be helpful having release notes along with the latest revision(s) - but hey - let's find the rom first.

Back to my initial question then ;)

Well, no luck so far. I also looked for the Yones - it's the same model, but no support on their side either. My last hope on getting an updated BIOS was Phoenix themselves - but it seems they ve turned - they offer 'support' via the bloody BIOSAgentPlus app which requires subscription. Unbelievable what people do for some extra $$$ these days o_O

I have already registered (in order to get all other drivers), but didn't bother asking them about the BIOS. Since it's not in the list of downloads, I am certain of what their reply will be.
