Does anyone know of a firewall for Win8.1 that's similar to Jetico Personal Firewall? That is, lightweight, very configurable, hierarchial rules, doesn't install too much crap.
Thanks. I don't see anything suitable in PCMag's article. NOD32 has a reputation for being lighter than other AV software, but I don't see a standalone firewall from ESET. Their firewall part of that suite also doesn't look very configurable. Finding firewall software is a problem.
I use Comodo firewall and I use custom rule sets to configure it the way I want. You can also custom configure you port settings. You can also manage your networks with Comodo.
I don't like Comodo's. W8FC and TinyWall have some promise in that they're based on the lightweight Windows firewall, but their configuration isn't elaborate enough. I'm also somewhat uneasy with using Windows' firewall because a lot of software adds or removes rules automatically, which beats the idea of a firewall. And I don't know if Microsoft may be excluding their own components from the rules in some cases.
