Anything with moving parts, will die soon. HDDs are killed instantly, fans will last some hours. The pc itself, if the mineral oil doesn't have any contaminants, it should work just fine. But there is no such thing as a contaminant free desktop pc, so I expect that those pc's already failed. Are the 1.5M views on youtube worth the risk? Probably...
It's mineral "oil" The issue is what electrically conductive contaminants are in it. If it's pure transformer oil like the electric utilities use, (had my baptism in that stuff) it should be fine and should be really effective in cooling on the other hand to be really effective the system should really be designed for oil cooling not just taking an air cooled system and immersing it in oil my 0.02 opinion ...T
Real messy if you have to fix something dripping all over the place then you get it all over everything ...T
this is just something to experiment with thats all....u can try with real cheap hardware and see how long will it last
It does look cool, i’ve read about it before. Not something I’d attempt. If you got to troubleshoot something, you get oil all over the place. Bleh
Haha We dont have a best buy in The Netherlands. This country is really more a do-it-yourself or buy a complete product. Not many good repairshops, and I’d rather fix things myself as I have the knowledge to do so.
Can you imagine the look on someone's face when you bring in a 10 gallon tub of oil with your pc parts inside of it to get repaired, and you tell them it gets a bsod when you try to play a game
