just installed w11 for the first time. i kind of like it. but its like everything is moved. the copy paste seems harder to do then on w10 moved files ot folders do not stay where i place the mouse. on desktop. to use 7zip i have to click to show me 7zip to unzip. how do i find the windows app like nipping tool powershell on w10 clicking on window icon shows all the install apps and windows apps. i find w11 to be a bit slower. but i find it to be smoother on games. not sure if i should stay. or go back to w10. what a dilema.
Personally, I run the correct operating system for the machine that I have. If the device doesn't meet the minimal requirements, choose another OS or upgrade the hardware.
... if you are seriously adventurous go to the latest buid 25324 (been using the latest releases as my Daily Driver for 10+ years, getting used to the changes keeps me on my toes) I remember posting something like this some years ago (Before MDL lost a lot of its database)... hopefully you are old enough to remember Forest Gump and Bill Gates Who is/are WE and what build id is Win12?
Dilemma? Dual boot is a thing since Win95, native vhds are out since the days of win 7, Also Virtualization is a practical thing since the beginning of this millennium. What dilemma you have? Just use W10 for serius things, and use W11 when you feel masochist, inside Hyper-V or dual boot to it.
Stick to Windows 11, Windows 10 gonna die soon, no point looking backwards. And you'll get use to the things the way they are in Windows 11 just like you got use to things in previous versions.
well i find games run smoother on w11 or is it me.?. but the rest not so so fast. i have never dual boot windows. and ill never will. i have tried on hyperV before but for few minutes then deleted w11. i find w10 doing just any task opening apps navigating the OS faster. but w11 games run smoother. and have nice visual of the OS.
You did not say which version of Win 11 you are running? Canary Dev Beta Release Preview Retail 6 months from now Win 11 won't be the same as it is now. A number of changes are coming..
Tomb raider1main runs on w11 just like it did in XP. Other than that I couldn't care less of current games. But, yes is possible that some under the hood improvements make some game to run better, but does that outweigh the downgraded GUI and privacy? My personal reply is NO. But each one....
i play old games.. like tomb raider.. thief.. splinter cell.. morrowind.ect. right. i like part of the GUI and other parts i dont. am going to test and use sophia script,
W10 LTSC 21H2 or 1809 depending on how old your CPU is. W11 feels smoother out of the box but runs heavier at idle and will definitely consume more RAM; if you have 16GB or more then it really won't matter much though. Plus, nobody knows how long M$ will turn a blind eye to updating W11 on unsupported hardware - if you plan on updating at all. The only people I'd recommend 11 over 10 is if they have a 12th Gen Intel (or newer) or a Ryzen CPU. Otherwise, 10 is fine for at least a few more years. The rest is up to personal tastes regarding the GUI - just cosmetics really.
A cleanedup W11 (or Server 11) install isn't any heavier or lighter than any other previous NT6 release, vista included., Nor it does consume more RAM. Obviously if you install it blindly w/o disabling the nasty defender, the Hyper-V related features, and all the cruft installed by a standard Pro/Home installation W11 will kill some performances more than W10
