    Hey Guys

Here is my problem, I want to flash a modded BIOS but not using the windows application.. I know how badly coded these things can be. So I am opting for the DOS approach.

I have got a few computers in my house, neither of which have floppy drives. When they were being built I saw no need to put any in, seeing as they were unnecessary. I have been reading this guide for one of the computers: http://www.ecs.com.tw/extra/flashutl/awardflash.htm

Anyone know how would I do that from a CD/DVD instead of a floppy?

    Thanks,
    iNO12

Power iso can also make bootable cd if you run it on a pc with a floppy drive. Format floppy. Run power iso. Select make bootable cd and choose floppy in floppy drive. Power iso adds boot files to cd.iso. Then add awd862.exe AFU404.EXE AMINF342.EXE and KV2V13B.BIN files using Power iso. Now burn cd.

Change bios on pc to boot first from cd drive.
    Insert cd and reboot.
assuming kv2v13b.bin is your modded/new bios version
    At A:\> prompt type awd862 kv2v13b.bin /cc/cd/cp_

Otherwise just use PowerIso to open the boot cd iso from previous post. Add flash files and bios as above and you should be good to go.

You can also use virtual floppy on your current system, then use poweriso to make the bootable image from that... and you can even do 2.88 Mb virtual disks then as well... Get it HERE!
also make sure your flash program is configured not to make a backup first, it won't be able to write it to cd...

Ended up using the AMI Windows Based Flash Utility. I read http://www.ami.com/support/bios.cfm for the information on the DOS flash utility and burnt bootable MS-DOS with the BIOS .rom and utility but when I whent to flash it I just kept getting " Bad command or filename".

    Code:
    AFUDOS ROMFILE.ROM /P /B /N /C

        * Program main BIOS image & bootblock image
        * Reset CMOS and NVRAM to defaults
I tried that, with the correct filename, but it just kept giving me the error. Weird, must be someting wrong with that command :/

It is all flashed and perfect now though, so all is good :p
