Flashing Dell D820 onM65 BIOS motherboard.

Yes, I've exactly the oposite problem to tferi's at forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/32952-Flashing-Dell-M65-BIOS-on-D820-motherboard-Please-need-help!

I could also settle with a SLIC 2.1 modded bios for the M65 though..

Just to be sure, after flashing this my system will be again a D820 for all intents except for the GPU which will need the Quadro FX350M driver instead of the Quadro NVS 120M one. Right?

Unfortunately I'm getting the <<Cannot use a "Dell System Latitude D820" BIOS in a "Dell System Precision M65">> error

This is executing "D820_A10 -readgzfile" as per instructed by the readme.
What should I try now? Maybe renaming the file inside de gz archive to some magical filename?

The gpu is detected as an nvs 120m thoug. What do I have now, an nvs 120m with an fx350m bios?
Not really sure that'd be better than leaving this board as a pure M65.

 

That is great. I originally thought the other file was the original one you prepared for tferi. That one would flash an NVS 120M BIOS over a D820 mo-bo if I'm not mistaken.

I'll let you know when I check (in a couple days). I dont expect anything spectacular except for maybe being able to install some drivers with more user selectable options. The ones from Dell are pretty stripped down, you know...

At the end of the day those cards are good for barely running aero and not much more but, hey!
