How do you define this sentence?
Food is Medicine and Medicine is Food! - Stay away from Doctors!
Some tips to live your life healthy.
    Food:

    • Pray before eating the food.
    • Eat only when you are hungry otherwise don't.
    • Please try to add the following 6 important tastes in the food (remember it is only for taste, it doesn't mean that you have to eat it).
      • Sweet = Fruit, grains, natural sugars, milk
      • Sour = Sour fruits, yogurt, fermented foods
      • Salty = Natural salts, sea vegetables
      • Bitter = Dark leafy greens, herbs and spices
      • Pungent = Chili peppers, garlic, herbs and spices
      • Astringent = Legumes, raw fruits and vegetables, herbs
    • When eating food make sure that you chew it completely with the help of your Saliva, until you feel no taste in the food and then swallow it. Please chew the food by closing your mouth never open and chew because the air will block the contact between food and saliva. Remember not to open the mouth with the food inside. If possible please eat the food by closing your eyes so that it will help you concentrate on the food and it help digestion too.
    • Drink water only before 30 mts of your meal and after 30 mts. Not in between. For example if you are going to have your meal around 1.00 pm. Drink water around 12:30 pm. After that you can drink around 2:00 p.m. So totally 1 hour and 30 mts.
    • Don't drink water while eating your food. Because it may neutralize the Acid contents from your stomach, so the food you eat won't get digested properly and you won't get Glucose/Insulin from your pancreas. (If you want to drink water due to thirsty, you can just wet your throat by drinking a small amount of water (with a bottle cap or spoon). Just make sure the water shouldn't go to your stomach and neutralize.
    • After taking bath eat only after 45 mts and If you eat take bath only after 2 1/2 hours.
    • Before eating, wash your face, hands and legs with cold water. It will help your inner organs to get ready for the digestion.
    • While eating food please don't watch television. Because it will distract your digestive system.
    • Never talk while eating.
    • Don't hang your legs down while eating, either sit down in a "padmasana pose" or if you happen to eat on the dining table, please make sure your keep your legs up, so that you are in a sitting pose.
    • Don't read books, newspapers, etc.,
    • If you had first burp you can stop eating. If necessary, or if you are going to have your next meal bit too late, then you can have little bit. But your stomach is telling you that it's finished digestion. It is always a good practice to stop eating food in the first Burp.
    • If you follow the above steps, you will get your food digested properly and you will get the full energy from it. (Food is compared to Earth)
    Water:
    • Don't boil water.
    • Drink water only when you are thirsty. If you drink water without thirst, it is not good for health.
    • Don't use mineral water.
    • Don't filter the water, eat the normal tap water. I mean drinking water, not the salt water.
    • If possible store the water in a sand pot. Doing so the bad stuffs from the water will be observed by the pot and you will get natural filtered fresh drinking water.
    • After passing the urine please have a cup of water, it will help dehydration.
    • Don't pour water directly to your mouth. Sit and sip, so the water reaches your stomach slowly.
    • If you follow the above steps, the water will work as a medicine in your body not as a poison.
    Sleep:
    • Never sleep by keeping your head towards North.
    • Never drink Tea / Coffee. Doing so you will not be able to sleep.
    • Never sleep in a empty ground, sleep on Bed or Bed-sheet.
    • Please understand the difference between rest and sleep.
      • Hard (physical) workers would require more sleep than the Soft (mind) workers, please don't compare yourself with each other.
      • Lie down 8 hours and leave the sleeping duration and worries to your body. It will decide and take what it needs.
    • Brush your teeth when you go to bed (mostly in the night).
    • To get a good sleep, rub your chin and back of head slightly.
    Air:
    • Please don't use Mosquito mats, killers, liquids etc..,
    • Make sure wherever you go and wherever you live there is enough air flow. An option to bring in the good air and to exit the bad air is good enough.
    • Keep your A/C (Air Conditioner) in 37* degree temperature.
    Fire:

    • Do an exercise where you are moving all parts of your body. It can be anything like Yoga, Warmup, Waling etc.,
    • In order to have your fire energy active and run, your only option is to work hard. so please work hard and be active.
    • Everyday morning, brush your teeth or wash with salt water. And then within your home walk for around 5 minutes by creating a "8" shape. It will help to have your bowel movement good.

Follow the above steps and live a healthy life without any ailments, and if you have it already it will get cured automatically.

    My belief:

Food is Medicine and Medicine is Food!:
No, food is nutrition and medicine is any natural or artificial substance to address ailments. An adequate nourishment supports a healthy life low in illness but some illnesses happens due to genes or cells/organs malfunctions, then we need medicine, not necessarily allopathic.

    Stay away from Doctors!
Not always possible, sometimes we need allopathic doctors that use science to make a cure. But beware of "The Big Pharma".

It's because you believe in that way. No problem.

Food will act as medicine if you follow the above points, i can guarantee you that.

Yes of course it's not always but mostly why people go to doctors, all internal problems can be cured by yourself by following the above points and some external problems like - accidents, fire accident, if someone stabbed you by knife etc.,

    Pranam :)

Good food does fall under the umbrella of preventive medicine, of course! Many herbs, spices, etc., are well-known to contribute medically and can be taken purely for medical purposes but are also used in culinary ways. That's why there is a space where food's and medicine's lines are blurred. Small amounts of varied substances contained in a balanced diet (phytonutrients, etc.) can prevent severe cases of imbalance in the system that otherwise might require highly concentrated/large amounts of a certain substance to reboot the system and/or target a particular imbalance.

The categories are man made and are even different in different nations. I work in a phyto-pharaceutical research lab (Chemist) and have before worked in a synthesis lab.
Means I research now for plants which might have a pharmacological action in human body.

Many plants have traditional use and are also used as spices for cooking.
We need to think about what product we want to have on the market when found a plant which has actions in human body (staying conform to national / EU laws):

-medicament (only available from doctors with prescription)
-OTC product (OverTheCounter). Available in drug stores from expert staff but without prescription.
    -food supplements

Yes, good food is preventive. Many essentials are supplied by food. (Minerals, vitamins, amino acids).
Also herbs and spices have a definite pharmacological action in human body. (Capsicum chinense = Chilli---> vanilloid receptors (receptor 1), for instance)

    "Stay away from doctors"

That is a useless statement. One should know which doctor is good and for what.....
But many consult a doctor any time when they feel bad and the doctor recommends to use pharmaceuticals, mostly synthetics.
Many people are taking meds any time when they feel bad (headache)...without even to make an effort to activate and maintain self-regulating forces.
A sickness has actions which are to most people unaware before the sickness becomes manifest and appears as its symptoms. It is mostly due to a barrier in usual flow of body energy...

So I'd rather say one should think about if a doctor is really needed.....and if the doctor is just there to earn money by prescribing medicine which is most profitable to him.

Traditional use as spices and medical plants has no barriers. Some plants which are used both ways:
    Ginger (stomach, vomiting)
    Caraway seed (stomach)
    Cranberry (cystitis)
    Peppermint (stomach)
    Capsicum (pain)
    Thyme (cough)
    Wormwood (digestion)
    Pepper (digestion)
    Indian saffron (digestion)
    Theobroma cacao (cough)

There are many many more, Indian cuisine is a very good example..also S/E Asian cuisine...

    "Stay away from doctors"

I am not saying that we have to completely ignore the doctor. But for most of our illness, like the following:

    Diabetics,
    Kidney related problems,
Blood Pressure, Low / High Blood Pressure
    All blood related problems,
    Thyroid related problems,
    Obesity
    Eye related problems,
    Hair related problems,
    Heart related problems,
Liver, Gall Bladder and Pancreas related problems,

Ultimately, all of the diseases which occurs inside the human body can be taken care from the Anatomic Therapy, except the external problems like, Accident, Fire accident, Wounds due to accidents, operations, etc.,

    Pranam.
