This is very interesting. I am curious about how this works.
Now you have vista OEM. When free win7 comes.. do you ...

a get OEM version with some update that changes your slic, serial and cert?
b get a retail copy of win7 with retail serial that needs not slic/cert?

Piracy is a bad thing, in general.

People work for those companies, and they need a salary too, and yeah, some of those companies do very well, so what?

Of course there are (third world) countries that simply cannot afford buying software. A copy of windows is the same price as a laptop.

And the unlimited availablility of pirated software via bit torrents and news servers makes it seem as piracy is a normal part of life, people don't take ownership of digital stuff serious anymore, and thats bad if you are on the selling side of digital stuff. Music, Software, if you are a producer and your work is available "for free" the day after you put it online, thats very

Big companies like Microsoft can and must live with piracy, but for the smaller, or very small guys, depended on digital sales, piracy can be a matter of life or death, business wise spoken.

 

This couldn't have happened unless upon registering for win 7 upgrade, they sent you a bios update.... which you would know, cause you'd have to flash it.

 

It will be the same as the XP to vista upgrade in 2007, you will get a OEM:NONSLP key that needs to be activated online.

They would be completely crazy to make people flash their bioses, with the risks involved.

 

This is what I expect to happen IMHO.

The common sence must dictate the price...is ridiculous how much money make some business. We don't choose as much as you think. Goodluck riding a horse on your way to the job and "parking" in the office garage. Or walk 20 miles to earn a bread.
