I just built my computer and installed windows about 2 weeks ago and im experiencing complete system freezes. They usually occur when im browsing the internet or trying to open Steam. It starts with windows explorer not responding but i can still use my mouse for a few minutes until that also freezes at which point i have to manually power down the computer and power it back up again. Im currently using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit My system specs are: Mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ 970 SATA GPU:Geforce GTX 560 TI Proccessor: AMD Phenom II X4 960T 3.00GHz Ram: 2x4GB
Is driver newest for Geforce GTX 560 TI ? What does bios allow you to config for graphics? Make sure all fans are operational.
I had this exact problem on an older computer I upgraded from XP tp 7HP. The ultimate fix was to install a new wireless LAN card that was specifically listed as Windows 7 compatible. The old XP Wi-fi card did have Windows 7 drivers, several in fact, but the fix was a newer Windows 7 compatible card and its latest Windows 7 drivers gotten from the card maker's website. LAN cards are ultracheap unless you need something specifically for gaming or such. I tried several Video cards and each ones latest driver but doing that did nothing.
Well i updated my video card driver and now when it freezes up the mouse no longer ceases to freeze up with it which is an improvement i guess
when you installed the driver did you choose auto install or the custom option which allows fresh install?
Did you flash your bios in windows ? i remember when i had a gigabyte board and flashed the bios in windows it did freeze too. When i flashed it in dos all freeze issues where gone.
Ok last 2 things i thought about (if it is not the bios). 1. Did you use a Loader ? if yes that one might cause a freeze as well (happend to me as well on my newer notebook) 2. Hard drive can also have a problem, try to scan it for bad sectors.
It would be hard for me to recommend a Bios mod to someone with a new MB unless there is one already modded and confirmed for that MB. Just sayin Michel.
I totally agree bios mods are not for everyone especially inexperienced, members who may never have even flashed a bios or know how to recover if it goes wrong. You already gave correct link to Windows Loader - Support and chat section where this should be discussed.
Well the board is from 2011 and can be modded easy, it's a gigabyte board. All he has to do is flash it into the bios if someone has modded it. Windows Loader failed for me when i used a SSD, the loader said i was activated but windows said it was not. I even followed the guid back then to activate online, didn't work and the msdiag said i was licensed. Bios mod worked fine for me, no issues.
