I'm trying to initiate recovery on a Gateway GM5442 machine, in order to reset it for resale. Unfortunately, my recovery disk(s) took a walk long ago. I have my CD key, but looking through the forums hasn't filled me with confidence for my prospects of trying a fresh install with another Vista CD and my original key. Is there a way (outside of trying to get a recovery disk out of Gateway) of reinstalling Vista or somehow getting my recovery partition to do its thing without the disk?

    Thanks

Your PC should have a hidden partition, you can restore your pc by pressing f11 and access the recovery manager software...

Tried that. It asks for the recovery disk and says if I don't have it "to contact Gateway suppport"
