I've been using this a couple of times and I don't recommend it. It's really outdated, sure it works but lots of applications just look f*cked (test Chrome,Spotify etc and u will see). I also noticed a huge FPS drop on some games because the gdipp service tries to render ingame texts (Had to manually exclude many games in the config). Worth testing but as I mentioned, it's really outdated.
Yeah, I've been using this on my Windows 8 just yesterday. Sure it's out-of-date but I have not noticed any stability issues thus far. The stable version is definitely recommended over the beta version. I'm not a gamer so I'm not concerned with performance during a game.
If I'm not wrong I think I read somewhere that the author is working on the Win8 fixes. Don't remember where I saw it though
I never knew about GDipp or MacType until now. What a great idea! I installed MacType on my Win7 partition, and I love it, however I'm having a hard time choosing which profile to use. LCD looks best, but some fonts don't look right. For instance, the bottom of lower case g's gets cut off. I'm using XMac.LCD.Default right now, but it's a little blurrier than I'd like, and the spacing of some letters looks a little odd (like anything following an upper case T seems way too close, just as an example). What I need to do is find a sweet spot, or maybe look for another similar program. In any case, these make ClearType look like ancient technology. To the OP, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll report back if I find anything else
As opposed to your Apple II font technology? I'll take "blurry" any day. (If you fail to understand my comment, google for "Cleartype" and "Apple II".)
