I just ran 3DMARK05 and 06 and whoa!!! I got 3000 more 3DMarks in 05 and 2000 more 3DMarks oin 06 than my previous HP DV5 laptop which had a much faster CPU (Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz / GeForce 9600 M GT) as opposed to my current laptop with only a 2.13 GHz. Core 2 Duo and 3 MB cache as opposed to the DV5's 6 MB L2 Cache!! GeForce 240M Cuda FTW
Probably need to check ATI Radeon Mobile cards as well to get a better idea about performance. I know for desktops AMD is still ahead in the game in terms of quality/cost for GPU's but don't know about notebook GPU's ( although the 5400 is looking cool . wouldn't mind a notebook with that one )
I prefer ATI. Over the past few years, I've had 2 nVidia cards & 2 ATI cards. Both of the nVidia cards died after about 18 months, both ATI cards still working fine, current one nearly 5 years old now, old one lying around somewhere 10 years old.
Same here, in the past i bought a Nvidia 4200 TI....that one whas crap and buggy with games....same goes for the Nvidia FX 5500....then i got a pc with Radeon 9800 Pro....that card whas crap too....got a Nvidia 6800GT, for the first time i got a good GPU card but needed to replace it after 6 months with a 8800GTX, to tell the true i whas not happy at all with that 8800 card....some games couldnt even play under ultra settings wich it should back in that time. After 4-6 month someone bought a ATI 4870 card but sold it 2 days later because he wanted a GTX 260, he asked 140 euros for it wich whas 100 euro cheaper because shops asked 230-240 euros. That whas 2 and half years ago and i still have my radeon 4870 card (512 MB)....all the games works perfect under high or ultra settings.....for the first time i can say it whas worth the money, this card is the best one i got so far and i dont and wont replace it until it dies. ATI before amd took over it whas crap, but since amd owns it it beats nvidia in all ways.
Almost every notebook I see for sale comes with an nVIDIA chipset these days. I've never seen any lappeh that is shipped with ATI.....hmmmm
