Hi to all, need a little help if thats possible. Trying to get a Bios onto a dell 1501 inspiron (AMD version) ive got the .rom file and ive downloaded winphlash but it does see the .ROM file - its looking for a .wph file. Also the bios apparently is A16 now i know the AMD versions of the dell inspirons uses i different bios style/type so does it work anyway....? looking forward to hearing from peeps that are considerably cleverer than i am.....tar
Well, turns out it can be done....but, ive been experimenting all afternoon and still got no further....ive got the flashabl.rom file and also found someone else on here left some acpi tables (havent got a clue what theyre for...) Apart from that im non the wiser....
yup - thanks, ive got that....its just the .rom file - thats what i cant get on....theres no tools or apps or executables that come with it.....as i said, ive tried using winphlash to get that on...but it errors, but im not sure that im doing it right anyway.....
tried using a generic winphlash program but it gives me an error with a .sys file....not sure what to change....
flash from dos or ask the members who tested the mod how they flashed it. also are you running the dell winphlash as administrator. don't use generic winphlash download the bios from dell and run that but don't flash it look in user temp folder and see if it unpacked there rename your modded bios file to same name as unpacked bios file and replace unpacked on with yours then flash it.
yup - did that - tried it as administrator - also switched to compatibiliy mode (xp32) that didnt work also....ironically the official 2.6.8 bios did unpack automatically to the desktop (where i downloaded it) i then replaced my 2.1 ringer file inplace of the original but still got the phlashnt.sys error.....
The modded BIOS is working 100% and I flashed in the following way: 1) Download the latest BIOS from official site to an EMPTY folder 2) Download the modded BIOS to the same folder 3) Run the official self-extracting BIOS file 4) Let the BIOS file finish the updating of BIOS 5) The folder will be left with several unzipped files including the window flashing program and a rom or bin BIOS file 6) Double click the window flashing program and select the modded BIOS to flash again
You should have selected the wrong ROM file!!! There should be two ROM files in the folder using the above method, make sure you select the modded ROM file (with SLIC 2.1) at the last flashing of you BIOS, it should have a different name from Dell's.
Can you post a valid link or upload the bios 2.1 SLIC files for this Dell Inspiron 1501. The only one I could find was slic 2.0
I have a 1501 with 2.1 Installed it following the posts here: h**p://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7534-where-is-dell1501-2.1slic-bios/page3?highlight=1501 I can't remember exactly how I did it, but it worked the first time after I read through all the posts...
