In my 30yrs online, I have always been an early adopter, going for the bleeding edge as soon as possible.(for no particular reason mind you) Win11 remains the exception mind you. I did try it on an old laptop using the 'trick' to install it on old hardware, Didn't so much care for it, but I rarely use the laptop anyway. Among the things I wasn't fond of, were the locked icons in the middle, and no way to restore my quick launch toolbar, issues I understand there are no fixes for. Among my questions are: Is this thing ready for prime time..?? Are there major issues I need to be aware of first..?? Are there deal breaker type differences between 11 & 10..??(yea, I get how subjective that is, but still...) Are there must have, er, remedies that one must be aware before installing..?? Can I go from 10 to 11 with wiping everything and starting over from scratch..?? Thanks in advance...
Also, am I right that this is the 'go-to' version..?? en-us_windows_11_iot_enterprise_version_22h2_updated_sep_2022_x64_dvd_efad8b7e
Oh. Guess that's not the one I want then... Edit: Guess this one is better...?? 22621.1702.230505-1222.ni_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTBUSINESS_VOL_x64FRE_en-us
I still have the following questions, if anyone could be so kind. I get that some are subjective but I'm only looking for opinions. Thanks. Is this thing ready for prime time..??(can it be used as a full time replacement for 10) Are there major issues I need to be aware of first..?? (things that just do not work) Are there deal breaker type differences between 11 & 10..??(yea, I get how subjective that is, but still...) Are there must have, er, remedies that one must be aware before installing..?? Can I go from 10 to 11 with wiping everything and starting over from scratch..?? Thanks.
No, it will never be. It's a ergonomy/usability and privacy nightmare Yes, 11 is a definite downgrade. Yes, change your mind Yes as always.
1- definitely. 2- taskbar may be not function in a same way windows 10 does and resource consumption is bit higher a little bit. 3-unless if you are fan of win 10 start menu there's none you can still revert back to win 10 context menu and use taskbar left oriented without problems. 4- on old unsupported hardware? yes couple of reg key modification but afaik Rufus has solutions for them (Ps. harder to disable Ms defender compared to win 10 but it's still possible). 5- no need but it's always fairly possible.
