    Hi!

I had to run SFC as windows shadow copy was not working..afterwards i started getting the "Windows not Genuine" message and now cannot run the latest loader by DAZ anymore as the program doesn't start. I re-downloaded it with no success :(

I get the following in event viewer:

Faulting application name: Windows Loader.exe, version: 2.2.1.0, time stamp: 0x4728b2ff
Faulting module name: msvcrt.dll, version: 7.0.7601.17744, time stamp: 0x4eeaf722
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00009b60
    Faulting process id: 0x2688
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cf49270431931e
    Faulting application path: C:\Users\User\Desktop\Windows Loader\Windows Loader.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\msvcrt.dll
    Report Id: 4241f887-b51a-11e3-ad48-000a3a7cc641

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thx

Which way system was activated before? Never saw the Loader being deactivated by running a sys file integrity check :g:.

It looks like the C++ runtime file msvcrt.dll is stuffed somehow, it's probably why you had to run SFC in the first place. The msvcrt.dll is not updated through the redists, it's part of the Windows installation. You could try copying it from the winsxs folder (do a search for msvcrt.dll by using the search pane in the top right hand corner of explorer from inside the winsxs folder). If you are using x64 Windows, keep in mind there are two versions, a x64 version and a x86 version. These are labelled in the winsxs folder as AMD64 for x64 (AMD invented x64), and x86 for the 32-bit version. The 64-bit version goes into the system32 folder, and the 32-bit version goes in the syswow64 folder. Yes that is correct, the syswow64 folder is for the 32-bit files :).

The Other thing you could do is copy it from the original installation media. Note that the version you have is due to an update, and by using the installation media version you will be using an older version of it which will mean SFC will throw an error.

Not that easy to switch out system files while the system is running :cool2:.

How was the system activated before? The Windows Loader by Daz i know, won't be deactivated by running sfc /scannow for sure :g:.

Ah yes, forgot about stupid UAC and LUA.

Run regedit, then go to the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

On the right hand side, you will see an entry 'EnableLUA'. Double click on this and change from 1 to 0. By doing this, you completely disable UAC.

Reboot, then try copying those files over. You may need to do it in safe mode if something is using it. The reason why I recommended doing it this way is that it only occurred after running SFC, and the fault states it is with that file. If you muck around with tools etc. you could stuff up other things without resolving the issue.

The msvcrt.dll is just a support file, so the risk in doing this is low. I also recommend running chkdsk on the drive, just to be certain :).

Remember to change EnableLUA back to 1 (if you so wish).
