I just installed Vista SP2 RC. The bios hack which has been working since SP1 has been disabled. Where do I go from here? Thanks, Steve
What bios hack? A little more information may yield a little more help. Bootloader or hardmod??? VL is not a bios hack, it is a software emulator. No surprise it is disabled...
I still had the serial and logo installed. I eventually re-armed it, and I am good until next June. I still have a Not Genuine notice at the bottom - even though it is now activated. I am assuming that is because this is just RC. Am I assuming that correctly? Steve
I was meaning the cert, not logo. How did you install them, the logo means nothing. slmgr.vbs -ipk <serial> slmgr.vbs -ipc c:/<license file> (slmgr.vbs -ipc c:/asus.xrm-ms) Rearm was not my intention..
That is exactly how I re-installed the certificate - which I forgot to mention. The serial was still intact. The evaluation is time-limited. So I think I am good to go now. The "not genuine" disappeared on second reboot.
Very good, I seriously doubt that the sp2 will render bios mods ineffective. If I may ask, why are you using the sp2??
I was just wondering how they had improved it compared to SP1 - as the next service pack in almost imminent. It is actually a lot faster. I was also wondering if the jump from Vista to 7 will keep my system activated via the bios mod. I've got IE8 in my system now, and that is the first step on the road to Win7. It looks good, by all accounts. Thanks for your help.
SP2 should not disable a SLIC table in the BIOS, you should load up everest and see that it is still there. As for the Win7 activation, there is no telling until the product RTMs. Once it RTMs then we should know. Once 7 and Server 2008 R2 RTM though I am going to buy a technet subscription. You get full no time limit MS Products for evaluation purposes. So I will get a copy of Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 for $350 along with keys for each.
Hi, any chance you can post your cert and moded bios for the Gigabyte K8NSC-939 motherboard, thanks. yoda
