http://news.techeye.net/internet/web-monitor-traumatised-after-worst-job-at-google After a year of having to monitor bestiality, decapitations and child pornography, a Google worker claims he was left completely traumatised. But rather than helping him out, Google decided that since he was a contractor he should be fired instead and can live with the nightmares. The unnamed employee's job was to monitor the internet for images and websites which should not be on the Google search because they are too horrific. He told Buzzfeed that his job involved spending hours and hours looking at horrible content, such as beheadings, child pornography (up to 15,000 images a day), gore, and extreme fetishes. Google got someone from a federal agency to talk to him, he said, and that was when he realised he needed therapy. The agent showed photos of seemingly innocuous activities and asked him for his first visceral reaction. There was a picture of a father and a child and he thought there was something wrong. Google apparently outsources this work to contractors who are only kept for a year. If they stay any longer they become full time workers so the search engine just fires them. The contract said his section was like the "fight club" at Google as no one talked about it. There was one guy who was an expert on beheading and every time a new video by Al Qaeda came up, he was the first guy to see it. When it was time for him to go, his manager had to ask the rest of the department what he did. If you're a contractor, you're just a name and a department at Google, he said.
hm... http://www.duckduckgo.com is far better than both bing and google, imho.. no privacy issues, decent stuff, and better results too.. [ google gets worse, on results, as they bubble you longer, and bing was never any good there anyway..] they only thing that sux is, that looking for images on duckduckgo is a nono, and time limitations to filter the old crap [ no janitors on the www..] out, is a pain.. still, they are worth a good hard look if you are fed up with what gorsky calls sociopaths.. as for privacy, i am too lazy to hide my ass behind a proxy, i just shun the social media, bing, and google for any searches that might be used against me.. i also shun telephones that are made to plunder my bank account, or take umpteen-pixel pics, instead of just making the odd phonecall, as they should.. but then, i`m old-fashioned..
Should maybe be the sort of thing you dont do 24/7, like do for a few weeks then do something totally different. I cant see that been good for you looking at images like that all day, every day...
That frickin sucks. I would have to wonder if Bing does the same thing, though. I mean, unless they just let everything through. I wouldn't know though, because I don't use bing.
Hmm..But don't you think this is a nightmare of every search engine today, including Bing? Now don't get me wrong, I love Bing too. But I am sure even they have a wing somewhere to keep a check on anti-social elements. Infact, Bing being stricter with content, they may be having more of this than Google. And yes, Google is evil. Just having a tagline of Don't be Evil, doesn't make you angelic either.
Here is a pure Cappie, hand in glove with an alleged Commie, abusing anybody they can/need to, on their way to profit... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23486638 - McBiggots think they can do whatever... I always abhorred Apple - and there's why.... quite clearly! Who can believe their s**te? Clannish superiority complex at its worst! Corporations in Capitalism! Oyoyoyyyyooooyyy!!!!
Who so ever is caught gets the flak. Yet child labour, excessive work, filthy and unsafe conditions, not paying on time are some of the most common business practices in China and also India. We are not alone as the same situation has also existed in US, UK and other industrialised nations at some point in their history.
