If I get it right, we should be able to get a start menu similar to the one in Windows Vista and Windows 7 in Windows 8 CP using VIstart. On my computer, im getting "runtime error 13" when I open the exe. file. Have anyone got it to work?
Have tried compatibility mode for both Win7 and Vista, but unfortuantly I keep getting "Run-time error 13". Glad it works for you though
I can understand why people would want the old start menu back, I really think the new start screen is the way to go. I have found that it is way more practical then the old way.
Startmenu 7 for me. The designer has taken Vista start and modified it a little. Also gives back the start orb for the lovers of it.
That is what I am using currently but to get the aero effect shown on the web sites home page,you have to spring for the paid version. The start orb is just a little green circle with a check symbol in the middle of it.
Glad to say, the new way to go for windows 8 is no start orb at all for RTM(just my conclusions) So you'll really need a third party app or software(no more old start screen code in windows 8, furthermore there are in registry some voices speaking bout old start menu....) As Canouna said, availability for OEM partners in july, after few months GA Start8 is just a ugly metro start menu, similar to "new" start screen, don't care to try.... So Vistart is a better solution now to use start menu with start orb(fully customizable, i created the new logo with standard windows colors..) Your choice, have a nice day
