Guide: intel CPU microcode update for Win7

This sounds interesting, can anyone confirm if this works?

 

i think our friend @abbodi1406 will have more knowledge/answers,it surely would be interesting though if it did work.

 

It didn't work for me. The driver starts too late in the boot process for everything to be recognized correctly (e. g. "Hardware Support for Branch Target Injection mitigation"). It would need to start very early for the updated code to be loaded.

Please check the discussion started by anonymnous on January 8th, 2018, on the Fling's discussion page. It might work for Meltdown, but I need Spectre mitigation. The driver starts too late for this, unfortunately.

Well, and here's the problem. I'm on AMD.

 

then you don't need any of this as this applies only to Intel based systems and will not benefit AMD based systems

 

The microcodes against Spectre do apply to AMD. Unfortunately, the driver fails for these.
