How to get your iPod supported?

If you want your iPod to be supported there's only one thing you need to do.
Make sure your iPod works (not bricked, unbootable etc).
Open a command prompt and type "diskpart".
In the diskpart window type "list disk".
Now remember the number in the first collumn that represents your iPod.
Now type "select disk X" where X is the number from the previous command."
Then type "list partition". Now it fives you a list of partitions. There should be only 1 partition.
The last collumn gives you an offset. If this value is small (kilobytes) then your model is incompatible.
If it's largere (more than 20MB) then your iPod is compatible and you can go on.

If it's compatible, open HDHacker (link in first post).
Check "Physical Drive (MBR)" and select the number you got from diskpart.
Click "Read sector from Disk" and then "Save sector to file".
Send that file to me and say what iPod model, generation, release year and capacity it comes from.
A list of all iPods can be found here.

I'll add the boot sector to the archive so other people can use it to restore their iPod.

hi. I have been experiencing problems with my ipod classic hdd. i tried to follow through your post, but the .zip files uploded are no longer available. would you upload them again?
specially the boot sector files, since i can't find the anywhere else.
