from faq website How trial version works? There are no limitations in trial version. After installing it runs for 30 days. If you don't activate it with license number you bought within 30 days, it will still work, but in limited mode: Start Menu will be blank and sad; every boot you'll be nagged about evaluation period over. Trial period runs for each user which have installed StartIsBack on one PC separately. i guess if the start menu is not work at all might install classic shell on the top of it will make it ok
i've removed the lockscreen completely from windows 10, several hundred reg keys and it was gone, i know you can disable it via the reg but i went that extra mile and killed it completely. thanks op for tip, gets rid of sihost.exe at startup. one less process! edit, it disable the winx menu, but if you have a start menu installed, you don't really need it.
winX is not a problem given there are many WinX replacements for win7. The problem is the metro control panel, simple things like connecting to a wifi network become impossible. Possibly this could be overcome with proprietary WPA supplicants from the XP era, which would mean "one more process running", defeating the purpose of the whole thing.
I used CS for a while before switching to Startisback. I'm not saying CS is bad, I just like Startisback better.
I didn't start this topic and I am not advertising anything. Classic Shell is a good program and it works well, and it is free, which is also nice. But Classic Shell and StartIsBack are not exactly the same. StartIsBack has some extra features that I like and are not found in Classic Shell. About a year ago I switched to Start10, which I think is even better. Also not free, but very low price and I think it is worth it.
