Can someone recommend a H55-based motherboard that's easy to mod for Win7 and inexpensive? The brands I can purchase easily where I am are Intel, Gigabyte, ASRock, and Asus. Gigabyte H55M-UD2H looks pretty tempting for the price/features. At the same price I can get the Intel DH55TC or the ASRock H55M. The Asus P7H55-M PRO is more expensive but it has radiators over the voltage regulators; dunno if these are worth $20 extra. The GA-H55M-USB3 gives me USB 3.0 at the same price.
get any that has SLIC 2.1 in their BIOS .. that is Key.. i would recommend researching to see which companies are offering it with their M/Bs .. that way you don't have to do any "modding" ..
I Have a Question how is this H55 M/b differ from other,i am currently planning to upgrade to a new M/B from Intel D945GCNL,could you please suggest a Good M/B with cost around 75$ or below... is h55 cheaper?
If BIOS mods will be taken into consideration then I'd pick the ff. They would be harder to pick off by WAT. Asus P7H55M-Pro with Asus SLIC. MSI H55-GD65 with Acer or MSI SLIC and Intel DH55TC with Dell SLIC. The MSI H55-GD65 has a dummy SLIC which is replaced by the real one by the Award automated tool. You can use the new iIntel tool to insert a Dell SLIC into the board's BIOS.
