That 3200G chip does not have Windows 7 video drivers, Because of the video graphics built into the cpu it is not possible to get a Windows 7 driver for that set up. If you want to run Windows 10 it'll be o.k.
Thank you very much. What about Win 8.1 Or rather... is there a site that gives information which Win works with which CPUs?
The Ryzen CPUs with inbuilt Vega graphics do not work with Windows 7. AFAIK they won't even allow boot ("ACPI incompatible"). The Ryzens without integrated graphics are OK.
Thank you. Finally found two threads about this in the 8.1 forum... Seems I am not the first one, but at least I was lucky enough to ask about this before buying...
You understand my side of that problem? I can hardly based on rumor buy an AMD CPU, right? As a matter of fact, I was so naive to expect a website that tells me which OS works on which CPU.
There have been complaints from people with Ryzen APUs, who couldn't install windows 7 due to ACPI incompatibility. Now, the page you're linking to only shows windows 7 allegedly running on such a platform, but it does NOT describe how to achieve that end... Anywhere. Ryzen CPUs are fine, it's the APUs that have issues with windows 7. @ThomasMann Why don't you simply buy a ryzen CPU and pair it with a GPU like the GT1030 or a similar AMD counterpart? Or, if you're so fixed on an APU like the 3200G, why not give 10 Enterprise LTSC a shot?
To my knowledge, yes, that's the only case where windows 7 can't run on a ryzen platform - when using an APU. And I'm not willing to accept a single screenshot in a reddit thread as proof that 7 can run on APUs.
Well... actually... my question is the other way around: Which AMD CPUs allow Win7 ???? I am still trying to find an answer for that... anyone?
Ryzen APU can run W7. (sometimes it depened on motherboard BIOS). But, at the same time, there is no W7 driver for integrated GPU. So discrete GPU is neccesary.
