    sounds like a head damaged or physical damage on platter

    try gddrescue from a linux live

    p.s. lay hdd flat and put pepper sauce on it... he wont touch it again.

    Thanks for the suggestions. I will be laying all of my HDDs flat now ecept the one that cannot be laid flat because of the design. I ran R-Studio overnight scanning using a 26MB offset from the start and I can now see the data in the 2 folders I was missing. I'm trying to restore the files now but seems like I might have gotten lucky.
