HDD make a brief squeak sound after i shutdown/sleep

    are you sure it isnt a fan i had one that made noise when turned off

    Ya, powering on HDDs can make noises like that as well. Exchange it if possible.

    I meant, dont open HDDs at home, except you have a backup and can afford dataloss or a defective HDD.
    Dust and particles, hairs and spit, fingerprints and cigarette smoke, compressed air and microscopic scratches are never a good idea inside of an opened HDDs. ;)
