    I posted a thread a while back looking for a windows 8.1 iso file i could download directly to put on my USB for the bootcamp installation. [http: // softicle . com/en_windows_8.1_with_update_x64_dvd_4065090.iso] Someone was kind enough to link me to this, but when i started to transfer it to the usb it said "USB cannot be used, error copying windows files." Now the problem could be with the USB (but i just bought it -_-) or the file could be corrupt in someway. I also went back and downloaded it again and it gave me an error saying "bootcamp can only use 64-bit windows, windows 7 or later." So i honestly don't know what the problem is now.

    Can anyone link me to a different 8.1 iso? Or solve this problem?

    What size of USB are you using?
    After you have the Windows 8.1 .iso file, do one of the following:
    1. If your Mac has a DVD drive, use your Mac's Disk Utility to burn the .iso file to your DVD. Leave the burned DVD in your Mac until you finish "Step 2: Install Windows 8.1" later.
    2. If your Mac doesn't have a DVD drive, connect a blank USB flash drive with at least 5 GB available. You'll copy the .iso file to your blank USB drive in "Step 1: Set up Boot Camp" later. Leave the USB drive connected to your Mac until you finish "Step 2: Install Windows 8.1" later.

    meanwhile 4 gigies are no cost giveaways, I recommend a low cost 8 up to whatever gig stick to run as your boot device for install

    I second this suggestion - don't mess with small USBs.

    Read the "==Usage==" Spoiler
    It is easy to do just requires a little patience and some time.

    The instructions say to copy the file to the USB.

    in the bootcamp process you either need a dvd disc or a usb with the iso on it. and if you have the iso file it will automatically copy it to the usb for you so you can use it during the setup, but when it's copying it stops and says "USB could not be created, error copying windows files"

    assuming it is an esd file it never can happen. A full iso is needed to run the process
