Hello everybody. Longtime lurker first time poster... I am currently running an x86 version of Windows 8. I need to install an x64 version for a beta I am involved in. I have previously successfully installed on this same PC an x64 version of Windows 7. Below is my system specs. Why cant I run the setup from Windows 8.1 AIO 20in1 with Update x64 en-US May2014? Do I only need to create a bootable USB and run the install from that? I have a 30 GIG usb to use. Thanks in advance for ANY help. Decca
Same reason you can't install ANY 64bit program on a 32bit OS You'll have to clean install by booting from the 64bit media
- Make a new partition, e.g. D:\ - Dism check wim info the index of your required X64 version - Dism apply this index to D:\ - CMD(Admin) : bcdboot D:\windows - reboot.
