Help choose between Retail and VL

1) What's the point of converting from retail to VL, is it just for the purpose of using a kms?

2) If I convert from retail to VL, would I still be able to use features such as Design and Morph in Powerpoint?

Thanks, that was my understanding from the threads I read; I just needed a confirmation.

Could someone also confirm that I would keep all the Retail features after converting from Retail to VL?

In other words, I would receive the same updates as a Retail version would, and I would retain features such as Morph in Powerpoint, both of which are attributes missing from a normal VL version.
