Help Dell XPS 420 No Loaders Work

    Hi, I´m in trouble now,

    I have tried every other loader spotted here, and i´m not able to get SLIC 2.1 on my DELL XPS 420. Currently it has SLIC 2.0 as shown in SLIC Dumpl Toolkit 1.6 from DELL.

    So far I have tried with Windows 7 loäder with multi-language support and WoW7.0.1a, and another two loader both of the same type that let me select the boot partition (cause my installation does not have a System Reserverd partition, only an OEM partition of 64 MB, an another Recovery partition of 15 Gbs.

    The loaders seems to install OK, except that I´m getting errors using the first one: "Could not locate volumen ...DR3,... DR4 and so on", but it finish OK and seems to be installed in C. Also the second one shows me the grub screen when I reboot the system and boots ok into Windows.

    However checking the SLIC version in SLIC Dump Toolkit still shows SLIC 2.0 from DELL.

    Anyone can help me here?

    Yes its Dell XPS 420 , latest update form dell version A07

    Sadly , i havent tried it as i do not own a dell system

    OK, thanks anyway, Have someone tried this bios on an XPS 420?

    You can just use the xps 420 modded bios. it works fine. I used it on a friends the other day.

    OK, thanks! I think I´m going to try it. By the way, is there a method to backup and recover bios on DELL Systems? Also this motherboard has a backup bios like some other that have two chips?

    Yea, Im not messing with the bios on my Dell Inspiron 5100. I'll wait for a loader that actually works. Too much risk to kill a laptop over an OS.

    Hey man, I was in the same boat as you were. I modded my BIOS and it works perfectly. Same with 4 other people. XPS 420. If you need the link, just ask :)

    You could always do a clean install and delete your OEM drive... :)

    Thanks a lot! I have already succesfully installed the bios upgrade with SLIC 2.1! Moving on to my laptop, another Dell, I need to discover the model number. :-D

    i have an xps 420 also, does it work? cuz loaders arent activating for me either.

    I wrote the file myself and flashed my own PC. If you don't trust it then find another file. Like I said after looking a the file mirror in some other threads after looking at the hdr it extracted the checksum did not match. I wouldn't trust that one even though people said it worked. It was for that reason I wrote my own. Everything is good and rw-everything shows correct version.
