    Agghghh!!

Ok so i am a bad person who doesnt care about the wealth of huge coorparations and torrented my 7600 32bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate.

All was wonderful until yesterday when it somehow realised i dont have a genuine copy and rubbed this is by planting an ugly watermark on the bottom right of my screens informing me so.

Also whenever i start my pc theres a long pause before a message urging me to activate followed by the destruction of my theme with a nasty black screen.

I have been trying to fix ever since with various patches.

If anyone can sort this for me i will love them forever, any advice appreciated.

Buy a copy that will fix the problem.

I may well have installed them incorrectly, i am a total Noob. Do you have a link to a perfect patch that will end the two problems!

Darth_Immortal you should be glad, Microsoft did lock you out of your system, holding your data as hostage, demanding original license as ransom. While you are able to access your system, try what genuine555, or HSChronic have suggested, if not back up your data and do a reinstallation.

The patch worked, thankyou all so much. Especcially genuine, my gratitude is endless.

I've turned off windows updates now, is it safe to ever turn them back on?

Don't mention it. Glad it's sorted out.

And if it is activated, yes, perfectly safe to enable updates.
