So i've been running the Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 1607 and I love it. Recently wanted to install a game and I am unable to install without being on the latest 1809 update. I can't find much on guide to be able to keep my settings and just upgrade, and having some trouble finding a legitimate .iso. Could someone point me in the right direction? Much appreciated.

Love the forum by the way, has a ton of good information. Will be staying :)

    Thanks!

LTSB/C is not on techbench, it's offered on the linked tool.

I though I would post in here after doing a search, as my enquiry is quite similar.

I have a friend who uses Enterprise 2016 LTSB, because at the time he didn't want all the "crap" that came with Pro, but as he is predominantly a gamer, he's finding it hard to play the latest games as some of them require the latest Windows 10 updates.

If I gave him a USB created using the latest ESD>ISO of Pro 10 (18362.175.190612-0046.19H1_RELEASE_SVC_REFRESH_CLIENTCONSUMER_OEMRET_X64FRE_EN-US), can he run the setup from within Windows and upgrade/change his install of Enterprise 2016 LTSB to Pro 1903? Or would he require to do a full format/install?

    Thanks.

So add Pro registry entry from CMD, then run setup from within Windows.

    Thanks for clarifying.

No reg edits needed. Mount ISO or run setup.exe off of your usb pen ;).

Bottom right corner of my desktop reads "Windows 10 Enterprise Build 10586" - software I just bought won't install because its looking for anniversary update. Anyone help with what I need to upgrade?

    Thx.

I wonder what are the games concerned by this obligation to migrate ? Because I am thinking about returning to the 1607 version...

I mean, 1809 seems more unstable than 1607. I get regular erratic USB behaviour (mouse who slow down while doing data transfert on external HDD, or simply by launching Mumble (?) ) and when that happen, some programs become erratic too after that (Steam can suddenly refuse to be launched until a reboot of the computer).

I also lost the usage of my eSATA ports, but curiously not since day one, it happened like that one day with no reason. I will have to reinstall a long SATA cable to connect my HDD dock from the inside-out of my case...

I also wonder if this damned fullscreen optimization in video games are present or not, as the Game Mode is in this version. This [Censored] is not easily deactivable.

Well, 1809 was a disastrophe anyway, the LTSC version could only partially mitigate this...

Sounds like the upgrade failed ... try a Repair-Install or install freshly.

None of these problems are usual, running it myself and all the latest AAA titels work without any problems here :cool2:.

Well, the worst point is that it IS a fresh install. I never upgrade a Windows 10 since I realized that it was a bad idea. This iteration made me recover my old reflexes of a 95/98 system : prepare to format at any time, at least 1 time per year at the absolute minimum.

I slipstreamed the updates inside the image before installing, by following the procedure from an another post of the forum, so I don't see what make this problems occured apart that and the fact that 1809 had serious bugs when released.

Yeah, but none of these is present anymore.

THERE WAS NO WINDOWS RELEASE WITHOUT BUGS (NEVER EVER)!!! All needed several patches to be stable. No need to blame the OS ;).

I think that for gamers running the latest CPU and GPU they may find problems with drivers. I mean yeah Nvidia has no desire to support the latest $700 card on anything but the newest windows 10 version.

I don't get it myself I am an old man in his 30s who sees no need to update his OS every 6 months. I prefer stability and no bloat.

Even the very simple device they used in the first moon landing did error out during the landing. Chances for a bug-free software or firmware are virtually zero.

I agree, but I don't remember seeing so much news about the bugs of a release than for the 1809 iteration. The deployement was reported two times, and finally done two months after the official expected date. This is why I am still suspicious about this iteration.

The obvious bugs are corrected, especialy the data loss one, but I doubt for the rest.
