Did you try with other builds of Virtual Box and/or other releases of W8 64bit (from different groups)?

In *most* cases you cannot run a 64Bit guest on a 32Bit Host.. Reinstall the HOST as a 64Bit OS and you can do anything.

You can run a 64bit guest under a 32bit host, if your CPU supports hardware virtualization. Most CPUs today do, thus your argument doesn't hold. There are, of course, many advantages if you run a 64bit OS, including the ability to dedicate more memory to guests (larger address space).

I have never received such a BSOD - Do you use known good installation sources? The driver name could hint to a faulty .wim archive on the media.
