did you actually flash from DOS originally or from within windows CMD window you need to make bootable floppy disk.

    1. I downloaded busy kid mod for XPS/Dimension 630i.
    2. format usb stick to FAT , copy awd873.exe and rename mod -- A13.BIN
    3. boot to native dos using the usb stick
    4. at command prompt in DOS, type: awd873 A13.BIN <ENTER>
    5. wait for 1 min ... nothing happen so I reboot the computer ... now the computer is dead. : (

So now i am trying the bios recovery booting the usb stick
but nothing happen cannot even boot to dos.

Computer can power on ... fan spinning ... but cannot access usb, harddrive or dvdrom. all i/o dead.

    Hi Urie

I have tried your suggestion. However still nothing. When I boot the computer the screen is just blank. IT cannot access the usb therefore, cannot reflash. I guess i am running out of options.

Do you have floppy drive in computer if so try a bootable floppy disk if it is large enough to hold bios file e.c.t.

Also did you add AUTOEXEC.BAT to bootable usb .

I plug my old floppy drive directly to the motherboard.
unplug harddrive, dvdrom power and cable.
    autoexec.bat on diskette (with this line awdflash.exe a13.bin /py/sn/f/cc/cd/cp/r)
    following are in the diskette COMMAND.COM, A13.BIN, IBMBIO.COM, IBMDOS.COM, AWDFLASH.EXE, autoexec.bat

... turn the computer on .... floopy will not boot
preset ctrl+home as someone suggested .... floopy will not boot

anyhow I order SST 49LF080A bios chip from ebay.

    =====================================
Once i got that chip i will replace it and boot the computer.

If that work can someone give me the detail step by step instruction to hot flashing the dead bios chip.
thank you all very much for all of the advice.
