    Use an older driver: nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-260.99-whql-driver.html

I've also been experiencing a similar problem with my Nvidia GeForce 7000M graphics card in Windows 7 ultimate on my laptop.

You should stick to the Driver that has not given you any issues. If it's working good then leave it be, if not then update.

people update drivers to try to get the best performance out of their system... if we all stuck to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, we'll all still be using Windows 95 :)
But, if there are any issues, the no brainer thing to do is to use what worked for you last, not try to fight something that's obviously broken

I used to regularly update Nvidia drivers but somehow the last stable release for me was 258.96. Huge reports on Nvidia and other forums of many issues in 260.xx drivers. Still the problems keep on persisting. Initially because of frequent weekly updates (190.xx to 258...) and later on because of various issues with Nvidia (260.xx series and later), I always make a system image before installing a new driver. That has saved me from 260.xx headaches and the medicine works in 10 mins (just do an image restore).

I think Nvidia has a guide on uninstalling drivers and so has guru3d/driversweeper. Never tried that because I do not need to because of the above method.

what sort of crashes are you lot getting

sometimes when i flip back to the hdmi port on the tv
it makes the hardware detected sound for the monitor
    thats when things go south
looking at the event log it has trouble starting the panel driver
i have only had this the last few days

if i dont reboot quickly it will lock up
