    Hello guys,

    here is some strange issue:

    When I am listening music or video (in IE (like youtube), Winamp, WMP...) after the random time (minutes or even hours) the volume goes down to about 15% and Windows Volume System Tray App shows this (two markers at music playing app):

    Volume.jpg

    It reminds me radio mute in car, when there is incoming call to phone hands free set... :))
    I have some s**t PCI-E X-Fi standalone sound card connected by "HD-Audio" (9 or 10 colored wires) cables to computer-case's "front-media-panel" (mic and headset connector). Maybe this connection is bad.

    Did you have some similar issue in past or does it sound familiar?

    Try this:

    Control Panel -> Sound -> Communications

    Select "Do Nothing"

    Does this happen after a Skype call? Skype always used to mess around until I stopped it from adjusting my volume settings automatically.

    Thanks. I set it. Photoshop measurement told me that the slider shows 13,5% (If it is linear), while the option was set to 20% (-80%). We will see.

    Thanks. Actually no MS Skype is running. But Trillian with Skype account is. MS doesn't support Trillian's SkypeKit anymore, maybe it is source of problem...

    @all:
    BTW: I am quite curious, how Windows detects that "communication"?

    I think some streams, like Skype are tagged as "communications." Your volume will be reduced when sound is detected from a communication stream. Look at what applications you have in your Volume Mixer. You should see System Sounds and maybe Trillian and others in there too.

    If it only occurs while listening to Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, count your blessings.
