    Hi all, I just bought a laptop with Win8, and I would like 8.1 with Media Center.
    Can I use the key of Win8?
    I will find any driver issue with the hardware?
    Will I lose the warranty?
    I've read some sticky, but still I'm confused, should I install the one from /53855-Windows-8-1-with-Update-ESDs-Repository, right?
    Directly upon Win8?
    And if my Win8 key doesn't work, can I activate it with /28669-Microsoft-Toolkit-Official-KMS-Solution-for-Microsoft-Products and be able to download updates?
    Thank you.

    Actually I don't want necessarily an upgrade, I can do a fresh install as well, if it's recommended. Also I don't have the Pro version.

    #1. Your key will only activate Win 8 and Win 8.1 (aka Core).

    #2. ProfessionalWMC needs an own key or being activated by KMS (Microsoft Toolkit, KMSpico, ...).

    #3. You can upgrade to Win 8.1 via Store and directly to ProfessionalWMC via 'Add Features'.

    #4. You can do a fresh install (recommended) with a ProfessionalWMC media (How-To and script/tools beneath the '==Usage==' Spoiler): Windows 8.1 with Update ESDs Repository.

    Sorry for my ignorance, but I need further help:
    I decided to do a fresh install;
    in /53855-Windows-8-1-with-Update-ESDs-Repository it's written "The thread will handle and provide ESD files for Windows 8.1 Update", that Update means I can't use the links from the spoiler "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center" for a fresh install?
    If otherwise I can actually use that upon Win8, then after install it can I activate it with /28669-Microsoft-Toolkit-Official-KMS-Solution-for-Microsoft-Products and be able to download updates?
    Thank you very much.

    @123179
    I did a fresh install using "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center" from "Windows 8.1 with Update ESDs Repository"
    Used Option 4 of esd-decrypter-v3 to create ISO file.
    Used Rufus http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/53152-Bootable-ISO-already-with-RUFUS-1-4-5 to create bootable USB.
    Booted from USB.
    Installed using Generic Key.
    Activated with MTK 2.5.1.
    Runs great ... easier to do then it looks and installs quick from USB. The actual slow point is decrypting the ESD.

    The ESD files are Windows 8.1 Update and once activated will update from Windows/Microsoft Update with no problems.

    I think I'm almost done! :biggrin:
    The Generic Key should be for Pro or ProWMC? (/51352-Solved-Win-8-1-Cannot-add-features?p=858724#post858724)
    I suppose "MTK 2.5.1" is Microsoft Toolkit (/28669-Microsoft-Toolkit-Official-KMS-Solution-for-Microsoft-Products), right?
    "The actual slow point is decrypting the ESD" well..I hope it doesn't take more than 3 hours because I can't keep the pc on that long! :D
    Thanks again.
