Hi all, I just bought a laptop with Win8, and I would like 8.1 with Media Center. Can I use the key of Win8? I will find any driver issue with the hardware? Will I lose the warranty? I've read some sticky, but still I'm confused, should I install the one from /53855-Windows-8-1-with-Update-ESDs-Repository, right? Directly upon Win8? And if my Win8 key doesn't work, can I activate it with /28669-Microsoft-Toolkit-Official-KMS-Solution-for-Microsoft-Products and be able to download updates? Thank you.
Actually I don't want necessarily an upgrade, I can do a fresh install as well, if it's recommended. Also I don't have the Pro version.
Sorry for my ignorance, but I need further help: I decided to do a fresh install; in /53855-Windows-8-1-with-Update-ESDs-Repository it's written "The thread will handle and provide ESD files for Windows 8.1 Update", that Update means I can't use the links from the spoiler "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center" for a fresh install? If otherwise I can actually use that upon Win8, then after install it can I activate it with /28669-Microsoft-Toolkit-Official-KMS-Solution-for-Microsoft-Products and be able to download updates? The ESD files are Windows 8.1 Update and once activated will update from Windows/Microsoft Update with no problems.
I think I'm almost done! The Generic Key should be for Pro or ProWMC? (/51352-Solved-Win-8-1-Cannot-add-features?p=858724#post858724) I suppose "MTK 2.5.1" is Microsoft Toolkit (/28669-Microsoft-Toolkit-Official-KMS-Solution-for-Microsoft-Products), right? "The actual slow point is decrypting the ESD" well..I hope it doesn't take more than 3 hours because I can't keep the pc on that long! Thanks again.
