I have a hacktivated windows 8 installation, which regularly pestered me to update to windows 8.1. These untoward advances were always rejected by me, as i always clicked 'remind me later'. Since a few days i have observed high network activity and now suddenly windows is asking me to reboot to install windows 8.1. Now I am afraid to shut down or restart my pc. What will happen if I let it update? Will the crack persist? Will my pc get screwed?

    Don't worry.

Simply upgrade to Windows 8.1 and use MTK to activate your Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 (If you have installed it). Link is from my signature or from OP of that thread.

    Good luck :good2:

Since it's hacktivated and you don't want to upgrade, why didn't you turn off Automatic Windows Updates?

No, but you'll have a windows.old folder with all the files that were replaced.
You can run cleanmgr.exe and select system files to remove it when you're done fishing out important files.
