    I have been doing alot of reading and yet have to find a solution. i am new to trying to automate disk partitioning ant clean install of windows 8.1. so far this is what aI have maged by using a createpartitions.txt file containing the following where windows is installed to the 100GB partition on an mbr disk. please help me figure out the proper modifications to ResetConfig.xml and settingsRE.txt for MBR disk and or GPT im at a loss or point to some more reading to better understand what to do.
    My objective:
    1 to automate disk partitioning.
    2 have windows 100gb part. plus a DATA partition using the rest of the drive.
    3 to have working oem recovery partition.
    Is this possible?
    Any help well appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry. createpartitions.txt :
    SELECT DISK 0
    CLEAN
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=1000
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=RECOVERY
    SET ID=27
    ASSIGN LETTER=R
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=100000
    ACTIVE
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=WINDOWS
    ASSIGN LETTER=W
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=DATA
    ASSIGN LETTER=S
    SHRINK DESIRED=20000 MINIMUM=20000
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=RECIMAGE
    SET ID=27
    ASSIGN LETTER=I

    :clap:Got it working with help from the OEM-Factory-recovery-image-creator-for-Windows thread
    using the following files.
    CreatePartitions.txt:
    SELECT DISK 0
    CLEAN
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=1000
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=RECOVERY
    SET ID=27
    ASSIGN LETTER=R
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=150
    ACTIVE
    FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICK LABEL=SYSTEM
    ASSIGN LETTER=S
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=WINDOWS
    ASSIGN LETTER=W
    CREATE PARTITION EXTENDED
    CREATE PARTITION LOGICAL
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=DATA
    ASSIGN LETTER=Z
    SHRINK DESIRED=20480 MINIMUM=20480
    CREATE PARTITION LOGICAL SIZE=20480
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=RECIMAGE
    SET ID=27
    ASSIGN LETTER=I
    =========================================================================
    ResetPartitions.txt

    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=1000
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=RECOVERY
    SET ID=27
    ASSIGN LETTER=R
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=150
    ACTIVE
    FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICK LABEL=SYSTEM
    ASSIGN LETTER=S
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=WINDOWS
    ASSIGN LETTER=W
    CREATE PARTITION EXTENDED
    CREATE PARTITION LOGICAL
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=DATA
    ASSIGN LETTER=Z
    SHRINK DESIRED=20480 MINIMUM=20480
    CREATE PARTITION LOGICAL SIZE=20480
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LABEL=RECIMAGE
    SET ID=27
    ASSIGN LETTER=I

    ===============================================================

    ResetConfig.xml:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Reset>

    <SystemDisk>
    <DiskpartScriptPath>ResetPartitions.txt</DiskpartScriptPath>
    <MinSize>75000</MinSize>
    <WindowsREPartition>1</WindowsREPartition>
    <WindowsREPath>Recovery\WindowsRE</WindowsREPath>
    <OSPartition>3</OSPartition>
    <RecoveryImagePartition>4</RecoveryImagePartition>
    <RecoveryImagePath>RecoveryImage</RecoveryImagePath>
    <RestoreFromIndex>1</RestoreFromIndex>
    <RecoveryImageIndex>1</RecoveryImageIndex>
    </SystemDisk>
    </Reset>
    ============================================================
    SettingsRE.txt:

    DISKID=0
    RECOVERYPART=1
    RECOVERYLETTER=R
    SYSTEMPART=2
    SYSTEMLETTER=S
    WINDOWSPART=3
    WINDOWSLETTER=W
    DATAPART=4
    DATALETTER=Z
    IMAGEPART=5
    IMAGELETTER=I
    LANG=EN-US
    WINLOAD=WINLOAD.EXE
    BOOTFS=NTFS
    ====================================================
    Installed and created recovery partition and restored fine.
    keeping Windows on a 100GB partition primary and Data on extended Logical partition taking up the remainder of the space.:tea:

    Great. I did make a mistake before about the removing size setting. Should have read through better & seen you were making a data partition too! Doh!
