I'm a reasonably capable computer guy, but I can't seem to grasp exactly how I would go about making the CD I want to make. I realize there are instructions here on the site but I find them somewhat cryptic. I recently acquired a Systemax Tiger system from a friend who was basically throwing it away. It only had a bad hard drive, but he was one of those people who'd rather replace a system than fix the parts inside. The system is a 2.8ghz P4 with a Biostar U8668D motherboard PCB version 5.0. The system has a Windows XP Home Edition sticker on the side with the Windows key on it. I have absolutely no CD's for this system whatsoever. I would like to be able to create a Windows XP Home CD that I can use to reformat the system since I have replaced the hard drive, but I don't want to pay Systemax $25+shipping just to get CD's I don't really need. If anyone is willing to help me with this issue, by forum thread or email, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks bkp57
thanks 911medic I think that this is exactly the help I was looking for! and yes, the system does have it's original motherboard... it's flashed with a BIOS that has a Systemax logo I believe... bkp57
ok I got 7-zip to extract the ISO to a folder, I extracted the contents of that first file to the i386 folder... I'm going to use CDBurnerXP Pro to make an ISO image, is there anything in particular I should name the CD? bkp57
ok, I got a working verison of PowerISO and was able to integrate the files from the original attachment into the VLK ISO image. Windows seems to have installed just fine, only odd thing was a long black-screen pause before coming to the blue Windows Setup screen, but after the install and reboots Windows came to the Welcome screen, showing the user Administrator and asking for the administrator password. After typing it in, I get the following error: Windows Product Activation A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error Code: 0x80004005. Now I'm stuck again. bkp57
crystaldmi, dmiscope, hexeditor..If you can get me a backup of the bios, I can. No modifying the files in the pack...
Run the program you linked to, and take the files from the floppy and upload them to me. The file you linked to is an winimage floppy image/archive with autoinstaller to floppy..
You have the necessary strings in this update. If you flash the update you posted, the strings are present. I can only assume that you also have them in the bios on the machine presently. The string is in the main bios module at 0001E0C1h No modding is necessary..
