Hi all! After trying a few downloads of media center copy from here and some other sites on google, I decided to ask the gurus instead. My windows xp media center edition disc 1 got cracked literally when I tried installing it last week, I figured the disc wasn't properly set in the tray yet then I shut it. Anyway, the cd2 is still working but cd1 is useless at this point. I have the key so I don't need one. Could someone please direct me to download a copy of MCE? Thanks for the reply Tito. The megaupload page does not load on mine, it has an anti-piracy logo or something like that. I think I have tried the media fire already yesterday and I got an error, asking me to insert a disc when I tried to unzipped it? Any input is highly apprecaited. Thank you!
download the parts and save on desktop. create a folder on desktop and put the parts inside.. post back when your done or you have any more questions
Done with the downloads. I guess I can now burn it to a disc, is that right? It's a retail disc, came with 2 discs and has its own key. Thanks Redroad!
Cheers guys! I am now installing it but I am getting some "cannot cop file xxxx.xml" or something like that. Does it mean some files are corrupt and cannot finish the installation?
No, only downloaded cd1 because i have the other disc and is still functional. I tried formatting the HDD and installed just fine. I was just entering the key that's on my disc and it says it's invalid. Just then I noticed it is XP Propfessional and not media center, is that exactly why it is not accepting my key? On the initial installation process, it said media center edition, now that I'm on the entering key phase it says xp professional, I am getting confused.
The foundation is XP professional so not to worry there...Is your machine home built or by a vendor? If so which vendor and model?
Home built, asus p5k deluxe.. dunno if that helps. But why isn't is accepting my key? is there any other way to make it work?
Yes..but I'm out of time tonight..Tito is on another time zone and I am on east coast so you will either here from Tito about 9:00 pm your time or 4:00am your time from me..But in the mean time do yourself a favor and download the other CD 2 wish you the best..
