I (among others here on MDL) almost report daily it still can be done and how it's done, just simply upgrade from an activated 7 SP1 or 8.1 ,using the iso/dvd/usb win 10 setup.exe or go the gatherosstate route.

The free upgrade to get a HWID never ended, the nagging/offering on win 7 SP1/8.1 stopped, not the free HWID.

    What's new?

I've been trying to keep this sorta hush-hush. I have a feeling MS promised "someone" that the free upgrade period would end back in July but they still want people to upgrade so *wink wink* don't just install it clean on a qualifying previous version anymore cuz *wink wink* it won't not maybe not not work! *wink*

I understand that, confirmed it with DAZ about a week ago:

the article I linked to this morning:
The funny thing is, no one told the folks who run Microsoft's activation servers. Which means today, months after the free upgrade offer supposedly ended, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 and claim a free digital entitlement, without being forced to jump through any hoops.

In fact now that I think about it, asked DAZ in chat, so it can be verified.

Unfortunately, it's a common practice of some (not so little) members of MDL to bash on others, who's intention simply is to provide information they encountered, for to help other with similar problems!

Be sure, your intention is much appreciated by many people, thanks for that!

It's not the poster it's the click bait article referred to, the writer brings it as if he discovered something no-one knew, like found the pot with gold. Did you even read the article?

He talks about gwx as it was needed to install 10 and get a free HWID, gwx was just the nagging part to get people to install 10. Just like people who once read the assistive tech still works to get a free HWID and didn't once try if normal iso upgrade or the genuineticket.xml route also still work but keep on promoting the assistive tools method.

Can you still just do a clean install with a valid license of 7 or8.1? That worked that way before the July 29th deadline?

The oem:Dm bios key for 8.x/10 is not the same as using an official oem systembuilder/retail/coa key from an older windows after installing windows to activate.

Can I activate a copy of windows 7 with Daz loader, and upgrade to a genuine license of Windows 10 like this?
