I tried searching google but could not find the answer. How do I upgrade to windows 8.1 from a pirate 8 without loosing all my stuff? As you all know, if you have a pirate non retail 8, 8.1 does not appear in the store.
I maybe blind or something but I dont see it anywhere, can you post the URL please? sorry for the newbie question
the other question is: Where did the pirated 8 come from? Perhaps the answer is given there? What kind of pirated version is it? Et cetera ....
The answer: Open an 8.1 iso. Run setup program. Enter default install key or gvlk for 8.1. After upgrade, use a different kms activator such as Microsoft toolkit. See the projects section for that.
Murphy meant... Thee answer, matey: Ye open the 8.1 is-aaarrrgh. and the Run the setup program. yaaaargh then entarrrrrrgh ye default install key or gvlk for 8.1. After yaaaaaargh upgrade, use a different kms servaaaargh activator such as the toolkit of Microsoft. Set sail to the projects section for all the plunders you need, and to watch out for land luvers.
@murphy78 Hi murphy78, i have installed Win 8 Pro WMC x64 from your version at TPB and I have used KMSpico to activate, both Windows & Office 2013, all is well. Now i try to upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro WMC, again with your version win 8.1 AIO x64. I have extracted the iso to c:\win81 and deleted ei.cfg from sources folder, to preserve my programs and settings. Still, when i try to run setup, either from c:\win81 or from c:\win81\sources, i get an error "setup has failed to validate the product key". My partial product key is 8QHDG. Is there something i should/ could do to be able to do the upgrade, without needing to do a full clean installation?
I encountered "Setup has failed to validate the product key". goggling told me to edit the sources\ei.cfg with Code: [EditionID] Professional [Channel] Retail [VL] 0
I understand, still my edition is not Retail, but KMS. And i am worried that by converting from KMS to Retail version, i will lose WMC functionality.
I genuinely doubt whether that will happen. Once a WMC, always a WMC. Devs please correct me if I'm wrong.
yeap thank to murphy i got all my iso and it was murphy78 that lead me thru ere great site with greater assistances ere
indeed i tried that too..i xperiment alot of windows from win7 till now 8.1 and as RDaniel says i also cannot upgrade to WMC as well
Well, looks like i am going to answer my own question I just went ahead and upgraded to 8.1 using muprpy78's older AIO x64 version, without deleting ei.cfg from sources folder. I was asked to enter a key and then i chose my version, it installed fine, activated with kMSpico and all is well
