Another thing: if you hold ctrl and go to the bottom left pixel the start screen thumbnail instantaniously goes away right after popping up. If you wait long enough before reaching the pixel it doesn't pop up at all as supposed. It looks like it takes a second or so before windows has figured out the thumbnail shouldn't be shown, and if it's already shown before it disappears.
