I have had to do a recovery of my Home Theatre PC a HP M7053N and after I finally got the windows updates done I noticed at idle it had a cpu activity of 43ish% I left if for a few days and even restored and tried again and same results. Anyone run across this and more importantly know how to fix it?

I am running Win XP MCE 2005
    Dual Pentium D
    2 gig Ram
    750 gig HDD
    Radeon hd2600pro
    realtek onboard audio 7.1

Its caused by dual processors. If you have a hyperthreading processor turn hyperthreading off in the bios while you patch then turn it back on after you do the updates. Same thing in your case with the dual core processors. Go into your bios and turn off the dual core capabilities after you do all the windows and office updates you can turn it back on.
